Art. 4 GDPR - Definitions

For the purposes of this Regulation:

2. ‘processing’ means any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data or on sets of personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction;

What does that mean? 

The list of processes in Art. 4 para. 2 GDPR shows: Any operation which involves the use of personal data in any form is considered to be processing:

• Capture 
  
• Save 
• Process 
• Query 
• Reading 
• Delete 
• Destroy

What does this mean for us? As soon as we process personal data with any of these activities, we are subject to the regulations of the GDPR.
