Most communication in a project is handled via email. The project participants usually use the email addresses of their own organisation for this purpose. Organisations are therefore obliged to ensure the security of email traffic.
However, there are also points that each individual can implement to ensure that the use of emails complies with the provisions of the GDPR.
A normal, unencrypted e-mail is not classified as secure. It is therefore advisable not to send sensitive information via e-mail or at least in encrypted form or via password-protected file attachments.
Also bear in mind that every file that you send as an attachment with an e-mail becomes a copy of the original file in your mail system and that of the recipient. It has therefore become established practice to store files in an online storage facility and only send the link to the file storage by e-mail.
