The information obligation of the GDPR also applies to events. Participants must be informed about the use of their data before their data is collected - in the case of an event, when they register.
The principle of data minimisation also applies here. Only the data that is necessary for participation or the organisation of the event may be collected, i.e. in the case of a webinar at most the email address and perhaps the name. Further information may only be collected voluntarily or with appropriate justification.
As part of the data protection information, it must be explained to participants exactly what happens to their data, who has access to it and when it will be deleted again.
